This vacancy (Colonial Secretary, Hong Kong. Ise)
was brought before the Patronage Committle at their meeting of
the 8th of February.
It was explained to the Committee that after.

limited number of names, as it was sideration only very
felt that the appointment of any officer without Eastern experience would be open to exception.
The names of Mr. Hart Bennett, cong, fotenial Secretory
of the Bahamas, Mr Eyre Hutson, Colonial secretary of kiji, and M. Hampden King, Assistant Government Secretary, British Givana, were mentioned, and particulars regarding Mayor Pearce, Cong, Deputy Governor of Nyasaland, were laid before the Committee, on
the existence of opecial reasons for arranging for of promotion on transfer of that officer.
